LEARNING ACTIVITY – CUSTOMISE A WORDPRESS SITE

THE ASSIGNMENT

Take your theme that you have installed on your hosting account and customise it as per this module. Then I want you to find some WordPress hacks that you can use to customise your website even further. The main thing with this project is to not just do things for the sake of doing them. I would like you to explain the tweaks that you have made and your reasoning for adding certain features. Please upload a Word doc along with your assignment, so that I can see why you’ve made certain decisions.

MY SUBMISSION

With the main template from WordPress as a base, I made the following tweaks to my site:

Header font

With some custom CSS, I changed the headers font from Helvetica (or something that looked like it) to a font called Rustico, which is free for personal and commercial use. I made a subfolder in the website root and uploaded the font there. Then I declared id by using the following CSS:

@font-face {
@font-face { font-family: rustico;
src: url(font/Rustico-Regular.otf);
}

h1, h2, h3, h4, h5 {
font-family: rustico;
}

I’m probably going to start using this font on my freelance website www.tonigiskemo.design.

Customising background images

I replaced all the background images with my own pictures. Their more personal… And I think their better to.

Embedding Instagram feed and YouTube-video

I built in the top of my Instagram feed by adding a code snippet I got from Snapwidget. My YouTube-video is built in using code provided directly from YouTube.

The wordPress-site I’ve customised:
