LEARNING ACTIVITY – DESIGN DIFFERENT LOOKS

THE ASSIGNMENT

Copy the exact content from a homepage of a website of your choice. Now redesign this homepage in three different ways. Each design should evoke a different emotional response from viewers. You can choose what you would like these emotional responses to be.

Please upload this activity to your WordPress blog along with a short report where you explain the look and intent of each of the three designs.

MY SUBMISSION

The page I chose, strandatreningssenter.no, is in need for a makeover. Although I would have skimmed down on all the text, I used the same copy for all three redesigns. I took the existing logo into Adobe Illustrator and made a Vector file from the original jpeg so I could change the colour to match the redesigns to my liking.

REDESIGN ONE: Simplistic and playfull

REDESIGN TWO: Epic north

The feeling that the world is at your feet. Should have used more time on the hierarchy, since it now looks more like a page in an magazine.

REDESIGN THREE: Modern minimalism

I put the most time into the last redesign, and as a result it’s my best work. Although some icons for gym activities like dumbbells and bicycles would have easier communicated the different activities, this redesign has a clear hierarchy for the copy and categories the different info with both colour and placement in the layout.
